Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2021 Returns to Inspire Students in Singapore to Dream Up Solutions for a Better Future

Oct 08. 2021

Singapore, 8 October 2021 – Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow competition returns to Singapore for its fifth edition. With the goal of sparking innovative ideas among students in Singapore, the competition encourages conceptualising inclusive and innovative solutions that address key challenges in the communities and positively impact society. Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow is also a platform for youths to crystalise their societal concerns, express their desire for a change, and execute their vision for a better future.

Furthermore, Samsung seeks to encourage youths to tap on this opportunity to develop and enhance soft skills critical for the future workplace, including communications, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity.

“Empowering youths to reach their fullest potential has always been the core spirit of Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow competition. We hope to equip them with the experiences and skillsets they need to succeed in the future through this competition. We are also encouraging them to think about the impact they want to make and the future they want to see as Singapore progresses,” said Mark Kim, President, Samsung Electronics Singapore.

The previous Solve for Tomorrow winners, Sokwei Wong and Kai Lin Ong, who earned internships at Samsung Electronics Singapore, share more about their experiences and takeaways. “The Solve for Tomorrow competition provided us with plenty of invaluable opportunities, including the chance to conceptualise and develop the prototype for our idea – an all-vegan, sustainable alternative to leather. It allowed us to broaden our horizons and gave us greater confidence in our abilities to make a difference to our society and environment,” said Sokwei.

“Throughout this journey, we were continuously gaining knowledge and honing lifelong skills, including problem-solving, teamwork, and presentation skills. We also had the fulfilling experience of bringing our idea to life through our own capabilities. I’m certain that these experiences and learnings will give us an edge in our education and career pathways,” added Kai Lin.

The winning teams for this competition will also stand to win more than $110,000 worth of prizes.

Interested students can register for the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2021 competition from today onwards here.
