We’ve all been there: you get out of your car service, only to realize you left something behind as the car drives away. While typically it’s a phone or wallet, some people are losing items that are a little bit more...unique. To acknowledge the most forgetful riders, Uber has released its third annual Lost & Found Index, which provides a glimpse into what riders are leaving behind.

"Over the last year we have seen millions of people across the world ride with Uber, which means a variety of items get left behind," says Dan Brubaker, Lost Items Lead at Uber. "While lost phones, wallets, and keys come as no surprise, we were delighted to help return some of the quirkier objects—like a handmade cat puppet and a Lego championship wrestling belt—that reflect the uniqueness of our riders."

When it comes to the most commonly forgotten items, those phones and wallets reign supreme, with keys, glasses, headphones, backpacks, IDs, and vapes rounding out the top ten. But some of the strangest discoveries? According to Uber, items discovered in the back of drivers' cars have included a mannequin, propane tank, full set of 18 karat gold teeth, professional-grade hula hoop, "special pizza costume," a full fish tank with fish and water, and 10 pounds of pulled pork. (Who are these people, and more importantly, how can we become friends with them?)

The worst leave-behind offenders are residents of East Alabama, which Uber deemed the most forgetful city in North America, followed by Gallup, New Mexico and Cookeville, Tennessee. The ride-sharing company even looked at the most common days to report items as lost: Saturday and Sunday are the biggest offenders, specifically between the hours of 11 p.m. and 1 a.m.

More data revealed that January 1 and October 29 were the most "forgetful" days in 2018 (New Years and Halloween, go figure), and that some items are more likely to be lost on certain days when compared to the rest of the week. For example, Uber saw the biggest spike in lost phones on Sunday. People lost watches on Mondays, headphones more on Tuesday, laptops on Wednesdays, books on Thursdays, passports on Fridays, and cakes (yes, cakes) on Saturdays.
