Saturday's 2015 Ignite Birmingham Heart Ball will spark awareness for Alabama's No. 1 killer

Heart Ball Invitation

This Saturday, March 7, the Birmingham community will join together to help fund cardiovascular research and education at the 28th Annual Birmingham Heart Ball. Not only can you join with the American Heart Association to fight the number one killer in Alabama, but it also gives you an excuse to get dressed up and unwind. Debating whether or not it's worth your Saturday night? Here are five reasons that will have you buying your tickets in a heartbeat:

1. Fun Festivities

From the moment you enter the Cahaba Grand Conference Center, you'll be welcomed by beautiful decor and friendly faces. Local band Total Assets will provide the soundtrack as you dance, socialize and enjoy a gourmet dinner before rounding out the evening with our entertaining and heart-warming program.

2. Exclusive Items

This year, the Heart Ball includes both a silent and live auction, with plenty of opportunities to bid throughout the evening. Whether you hope to whisk away a loved one on a Sonoma Valley excursion or enjoy fine dining locally with the Bellini's Ristorante Dining Experience, there's something for everyone - and the proceeds help a good cause.

3. Birmingham - a Community with Heart

Since its' inception in 1988, a group of influential women known as the Heart Guild of Birmingham has championed the Birmingham Heart Ball. These ladies are passionately dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke year-round and they have recruited the most influential leaders in Central Alabama to attend. By joining us at this event, you stand in solidarity with the entire community to make Birmingham a healthier place.

4. The Health of Alabama

Alabama has the second highest death rate from cardiovascular diseases in the country. The American Heart Association works tirelessly to improve everything from healthy food access to improved hospital care, but we still have a long way to go to save lives in our state and build a healthier future.

5. Research, Research, Research

Aside from the U.S. government, the American Heart Association funds more research than any other organization. This past year, the Birmingham Heart Ball raised $1.8 million to fund life-saving cardiovascular research. In return, the AHA funded $4.2 million in research throughout the state in 2014. Most of this money stayed locally to fund research at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. Our cutting-edge cardiovascular research improves and extends lives - the ultimate reason why Birmingham gathers each year for this prestigious social event.
