For the first time this season, the Kings emerged victorious despite the absence of DeMarcus Cousins. The victory came thanks to a dominant offensive performance by Sactown, who shot nearly 60 percent from the field on Wednesday night and had six players in score in double figures.
After a back-and-forth end to the third quarter, the purple and black pulled away in the final frame thanks to 10 fourth-quarter points by Rudy Gay. No. 8 had an impressive night – tallying 36 points on 13-of-21 shooting and getting a crucial four-point play to go in the late stages of the game.
Equally as impressive as Gay's performance was the team’s three-point performance and free-throw percentage; shooting 43.5 and 83.8 percent, respectively.
- Omri Casspi scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds on the night, ending as the team’s second-highest scorer.
- Kosta Koufos made the most of his move to the starting lineup, netting 14 points on 5-of-8 field goals and 4-of-4 free throws.
- Rajon Rondo just missed yet another triple-double with a line of 10 points, 13 assists and nine rebounds.
- The Kings shot a season-high 57.1% from the field. It’s the sixth time this season they’ve scored on 50% or more from the field -- and the team is now 4-2 in such contests.
