Tolliver Showcases Relentless Work Ethic

“That’s off,” shouted Anthony Tolliver, expecting to miss a three-point attempt during practice in Lexington, Kentucky.

Swish.

“Awfully good, I mean,” said Tolliver, correcting his mistake.

Not even 24 hours after the eight-year veteran drained seven threes on seven tries in a win over the Los Angeles Lakers, the stretch forward was putting in extra work from long range. Tolliver and the Kings had just completed practice in Kentucky, but No. 43 continued launching from beyond the arc, determined to reach a point of satisfaction.

From multiple spots behind the three-point line, the Kings forward attempted 12 shots, only moving to the next location once he reached a minimum of 10 made. During the times in which Tolliver fell short of the mark, he quickly got back to work with assistant coaches, stating “more reps for me.”

It’s the type of tireless work ethic that netted the 31-year-old his first NBA contract in 2008-09, advancing from several stints with the NBA D-League early in his career. Tolliver is coming off a valuable season, voted “Best Teammate” during the 2015-16 campaign while continually contributing as a reserve for the Detroit Pistons.

With next season on the horizon, the Creighton product is excited about the opportunities ahead in Sacramento.

“I love this offense,” Tolliver said. “The ball is in my hands often, so it allows me to stay involved, stay in a rhythm and stay ready.”
