Travel Guard Platinum Package from AIG offers all-inclusive coverage

TORONTO — The new Travel Guard AIG Platinum All Inclusive Package is one of the most comprehensive travel policies to date, offering both Waiver of Pre-ex as well as an optional Cancel for Any Reason.

Platinum Package also upgrades several benefit limits, including Same Class Ticket Upgrade, increase in Subsistence Allowance limits, increase in the Baggage Delay limit and Hurricane Coverage.

Sandra Clement, Marketing Manager, AIG Insurance Company of Canada, said the company developed the Travel Guard Platinum All Inclusive Package in response to agencies looking for an alternative option to the Cancel for Any Reason credit toward future travel offered through cruise lines and tour operators. “The product needed to offer a cash refund instead of a credit towards another trip when the client cancelled for any reason,” said Clement.

The Platinum All Inclusive Package “offers a robust range of features: Cancel for Any Reason, which provides coverage for 75% of trip costs in the event the client wants to cancel their trip for any reason; and Waiver of Pre-existing Condition, which should override the stability period of the insurance. If, for example, your client has had a change in medication they can still have coverage.”

A recent survey from the Travel Health Insurance Association of Canada (THIA) indicates that more Canadians plan to travel this winter, yet 67% don’t know if provincial health plans cover out-of-province medical care.  Moreover, 38% of survey respondents said that unexpected medical expenses of $1,000 – $5,000 would represent a financial crisis.

Clement urges you to remind travellers not to rely on their provincial or territorial health plan to cover costs, should they become sick or are injured while abroad. Provincial and territorial health plans don’t always cover out-of-country travel. They may cover only part of the bill, and generally do not pay up front.

Clement says, “Hard working Canadians deserve a great vacation, and they also deserve to protect themselves and their trip investment with Travel Guard’s Platinum All Inclusive Package.”

Clement adds, “we stand out in the crowd by being an innovator in our products and services, and we look for ways to support our agencies’ needs in growing their business. We care equally for the agent and for the consumer. That’s AIG’s Travel Guard difference.”
