This inaugural masterclass will provide lectures and “real” hands-on training for attendees seeking the basics of Transcranial Doppler techniques of examinations, their clinical applications, and interpretations. You will learn from world-renowned experts teaching you the most important concepts and skills for transcranial doppler topics. This conference is dedicated to TCD. Specifically, we will cover vascular anatomy and physiology, protocols and interpretations for ultrasound applications, blood flow patterns, and more. In addition, you will get hands-on practice performing ultrasound studies on volunteers.

Target Audience

This course is designed for physicians, physician assistants, sonographers, nurse practitioners, nurses, residents, fellows, students, and engineers.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to: 

  • Identify extracranial and intracranial flow signals
  • Perform complete transcranial ultrasound examinations
  • Identify extracranial and intracranial stenosis, collateral flow, flow reversal, PFO and vasospasm
  • Interpret cervical and transcranial ultrasound studies, including monitoring procedure.
  • Discuss different types of ultrasound equipment and ultrasound impact on stroke management
