New Mexico State Police arrested 53-year-old Jose Bricino, of Anthony, N.M., in connection with the hit-and-rundeath of a 6-year-old boy.

Angel Fragoso was struck by a truck Thursday evening while he was riding his bicycle near the intersection of Fourth and Putter Circle.

The driver of the truck left the scene and investigators initiated a search for the person responsible.

At a news conference Saturday evening, New Mexico State Police, Dona Ana Sheriffs and Anthony Police said they were following up on leads Saturday morning when they located the suspect’s vehicle.

The white Ford truck was found at 10:30 Saturday morning at 1911 Starlight Lane in Anthony.

Officers took Bricino to state police headquarters for an interview. He was charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death and failing to stop and render aid.

The charges were approved by District Attorney Mark D’Antonio and Judge Fernando Macias at 7 p.m. Saturday.

The victim's father, Sebastian Fragoso, said the family is unhappy with the charges because he doesn’t think they’re harsh enough.

Bricino was booked into the county jail Saturday and posted bond within a few hours, according to online court records.
