Bullfighting is a sport that's been romanticized for its grace and gore for decades. Today, we focus on the latter quality, due to an incident in Spain that cost bullfighter Juan Jose Padilla his glass eye. Padilla has been known as "The Pirate" ever since he lost his real eye during a fight in 2011. Amazingly enough, he decided to keep on fighting despite the injury, and has donned an eye patch ever since.

However, that patch was unfortunately not enough to save his replacement eye during his latest match-up. Here's what happens when you take on a raging bull and lose. Be warned, this video is pretty intense:

Though he was immediately taken to the hospital after the fight, the 43-year-old Padilla said that he would return to the sport on March 18 for an event in Castellon, Spain. That's right: This guy lost his real eye, his glass eye, and probably has some pretty nice bruises to show off on top of that—but he's saying that he isn't down for the count. Crazy? Courageous? Both? Whatever the case, best of luck to him.
