Aha! The *Real* Reason Days of Our Lives’ Stefan Apologized to Chad

Well, Stefan running over to Chad on Days of Our Lives for a heart to heart before turning himself into the cops was not something we had on our 2024 bingo card. But here we are.

That scene yesterday (which you can read in our recap here) was, in a way, random — but not entirely. Stefan’s made some horrendous decisions that have backed him into a corner of either jail or a death sentence (or a trip to Siberia, North Korea or Afghanistan which would pretty much be the end of his life one way or another).

His apology to Chad about Abigail, vague as it was, makes sense if he’s in his feels and reevaluating all the bad things he’s done. The thing is, every time they mention Abby, folks start buzzing about whether she’s coming back. And that’s fair enough on Days of Our Lives where returns from the dead are, for lack of a better word, routine.

But this time, Stefan’s apology could actually be hinting at something more. Something bigger. This summer will mark two years since her murder at Clyde’s hands — which would be the perfect time to bring Abigail back and finally put Clyde to bed! Yes, he was locked up for her murder, but if anything, that seemed to make him more powerful. He really hasn’t been paying for her death as he’s just done whatever he’s wanted to in prison.

And at this point, what hasn’t he done to the folks of Salem? He’s backed Ava and Stefan into corners, tried to kill a cop, corrupted a cop, tried to kill Tripp and Wendy, flooded Salem with drugs that caused overdoses and put Holly into a coma and is coming darn close (with a healthy dose of help from EJ and a stubbornly silent Holly) to ruining Tate’s life.

The show has made it clear that prison is no big deal for Clyde and it’s been making him worse and worse to the point that there’s just about one place left for him to go. Now we’re not saying the show should kill off Clyde… but we did draw up a possible list of suspects of who might do it. Offing him might be the full circle moment that could bring about her return.

Yeah, death meaning so little in Salem does get a bit old and Dr. Rolf seems to be the go-to explanation for returns, but imagine the poetry if Clyde’s death gives Abigail life. So, what if he’s finally offed — maybe even by someone in the DiMera family — and given over to Dr. Rolf?

Jake’s heart was used to bring Stefan back, so why can’t the good doctor figure out a way to return Abigail to us? Not that we want Clyde’s heart in Abigail — that would be gross — but come on, this is Days of Our Lives. If they wanted to figure out a reason why the mad scientist could use Clyde to give Abby life, they could in a heartbeat.

So with Chad still struggling to move on and Clyde’s death seeming all-but imminent, maybe it is time to bring Abigail back. We can certainly think of worse folks to keep coming back!
