Ottawa’s Magical Garden Of Light You Don’t Want To Miss This Spring

Spring has sprung!
Ottawa’s Magical Garden Of Light You Don’t Want To Miss This Spring
Contributor

I get it, you get it, we all get it. Winter is over but it doesn't exactly feel that way. Winter should claim to be over once there is no snow on the ground and when it reaches 6 degrees without dropping to -28 the next day.

Personally, I can't wait for the day that I get to bring out my leather jacket from hibernation. Who's with me?

If you're over the winter blues and just want to see the light at the end of the tunnel, you're in for a treat. CF Rideau Centre knows what's up, and they want to help you find that light. The Garden of Light, specifically.

This week the shopping centre unveiled its exciting and joyful LED light installment called the Garden of Light featuring 1,600f LED lights that are interactive with colours and sound. Guests can use one of two touchpads to change the colours and patterns of the garden and guests can enjoy 90 second pre-programmed shows to spring melodies. The LED lights are even shaped into flowers because spring, obviously. It is located on Level 1 next to Bento Sushi so shoppers on both levels can’t miss it!

This spring display will be at CF Rideau Centre until April 28th, and will also have the delightful sound of an Ottawa native to go along with the LED lights. Juno nominee Amanda Rheaume will give a free performance on April 15th from 1 pm to 3 pm and no doubt get people into the spring spirit with her folk-country-pop voice.

Of course, since we're all so in love with social media, you can share your beautiful and aesthetically pleasing posts of the Garden of Light on Instagram and Twitter using hashtag #CFHelloSpring. While taking a picture in front of these lights, or just a picture of them, you'll be surrounded by the calming sounds of nature to help get you in the mood. Is this what meditation feels like? I think so.

What’s also cool is by posting using the hashtag #CFHelloSpring, you can also trigger a pattern and sound reaction in the Garden of Light. Even more reason to post!

Don't miss out on this opportunity to have an excuse to go shopping. I mean, you're already going to be there, so why not?! Your social media definitely can't wait for these LED flowers to make an appearance (#feedgoals, right?).

For more information or just to say how much you're ready for spring, check out CF Rideau Centre's website and social media platforms (FB, Twitter, Instagram). We all can't wait that long for the Tulip Festival in Ottawa, so thank you CF Rideau Centre for bringing a little bit of spring to our beloved city.
