Four realistic new year’s resolutions

Ok so we might already be near the end of the first month of 2020, but that doesn’t mean we have to stop talking about new year’s resolutions. Below are four resolutions or intentions that we believe are pretty doable.

Make friends

Moved to a new city and want to meet people? That’s easy. We have countless happy hours and networking events around the globe. And if you’re a little shy, talk about your experiences on Comm Ave.—it’s the best ice breaker.

Upgrade your career

So you’re thinking of changing your career or at the very least moving up in the ranks? We have a few solutions for you.
One: Attend a webinar. It’s free, it’s only an hour and occurs during lunchtime. You can also search our on-demand webinars and see what you’ve missed.
Two: Get a mentor through our Career Advisory Network. Alumni from different industries have volunteered to talk to you, review your résumé or give you an informational interview.
Three: Use Handshake. It’s BU’s official job board and career management platform for students and young alumni. Just complete your profile to see a curated collection of opportunities that are best suited to your interests and experience.

Take advantage of your alumni status

Whether you graduated this December or 30 years ago, it’s never too early or too late to reconnect with your alma mater. Our Terrier perks range from continuing education to travel programs to fun events near you.

Be a better person

You already do Meatless Mondays, you recycle, you try to avoid plastic waste, you donate your clothes every season. What else could you do? Volunteer! We host Global Days of Service every year in the hopes of bringing the BU community together to do something meaningful for the community at large. Last year we had almost 300 volunteer projects in 159 cities.
