Trials cyclist Danny MacAskill has biked on all kinds of terrain, from the Scottish countryside to the rooftops of Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands. Once, he even jumped a couple of cows in Glasgow. His exploits, which he often makes sure to capture on camera, led Bicycling to dub him the "bike video king" in 2015.

Now, MacAskill has come out with footage of what he calls "one of the biggest challenges I've ever had on my bike."

In a new video sponsored by the cycling clothing brand Endura—the same company that partnered with MacAskill on his previous viral videos—the Scottish mountain biking legend hikes to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. More impressively, he and his team spend part of the snowy climb lugging bikes on their backs, having hidden them about halfway up the mountainside before setting out.

"I really struggled with altitude," MacAskill says in the video. "I really wasn't prepared for how it was going to be up in the summit." Watch him make the five-day trek with his Santa Cruz mountain bike in tow:

Don't worry, there's payoff for all that climbing. After reaching the top of Africa's highest mountain, MacAskill and the others mount up and ride down a descent of almost 5,900 meters (more than 19,000 feet). They follow an off-season ski trail, kicking up dust as they navigate the rocky slope.

"I've never done anything like that descent before," MacAskill says, "and it really made all of the suffering worth it." (Reach your own cycling milestones with help from our own Cyclist's Bucket List.)
