Preview: Kings (7-11) at Sixers (4-14)

Led by rookie Joel Embiid, the 76ers narrowly fell to the reigning champion Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday night. Philadelphia led by as many as 14 before a fourth-quarter surge by Kyrie Irving secured a 112-108 victory for Cleveland. Embiid did not play in the team’s following game in Toronto, who easily defeated the 76ers by 27 points.

All four of Philadelphia’s victories this year have come on their home floor. Joel Embiid has led the team in three of those four games with 24 points, six rebounds and two blocks per contest.

The rookie center will match up across DeMarcus Cousins, who is currently in the midst of a historic scoring run in Kings franchise history. Cousins has hit 30 or more points in four-consecutive contests, matching a streak previously set by Chris Webber in 2001. With another 30-plus performance tonight, he can break that record when the team faces Philly.

In order for Boogie and the Kings to net a win at Wells Fargo Center, the team will need to improve on their three-point shooting. Sacramento shot just 2-of-19 from deep in Monday’s defeat to the Wizards. The team’s starting backcourt also combined for just nine points and the squad turned the ball over 20 times for 21 Washington points.

Last season, Sactown won its lone contest in Philadelphia, splitting the season series 1-1.

Key Matchup

Embiid may face his toughest task to date guarding the game’s highest scoring center in DMC. Likewise, No. 15 is facing one of the most versatile big men in today’s game. The rookie is shooting 50 percent from beyond the arc on two-plus attempts per outing while tallying over two blocks per game. Limiting Embiid’s contributions will be key in securing a win.

Did You Know?

Joel Embiid leads the League in three-point percentage among players who average two attempts or more per game.
