Kings Fall Late in Atlanta

After going back-and-forth for the majority of the first half, Atlanta pulled away from Sacramento with an 11-0 run in the closing minutes of the second quarter.

The Kings climbed back into the game, however, cutting Atlanta's lead to two with under a minute to go, but a basket by Paul Millsap prevented Sactown from completing the comeback.

Turnovers were the key factor – the purple and black turned the ball over 21 times while the Hawks only coughed it up 12 times.

  • Rajon Rondo recorded his fourth triple-double in six games, tying Chris Webber for second-most in the Sacramento era.
  • DeMarcus Cousins tallied his sixth double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds.
  • Ben McLemore had another strong game, going 3-of-3 from three-point range on the night.
  • Darren Collison returned to the Kings after a five-game absence, hitting a big three to bring the Kings within two in the games final minute.

Following a strong first half from distance (seven made three-pointers), the Kings were able to limit Atlanta to just two in the second half.

Sacramento now travels to Miami to take on Dwyane Wade and the Heat on Thursday night in South Beach.
