MP poised to quit over Labour leader’s ‘Zionist’ slur as ex-BNP and Ku Klux Klan chiefs show support

Far-right leaders rallied behind Jeremy Corbyn and a senior Labour MP called him a racist antisemite after a film emerged of him giving a speech on “Zionists” in Britain.

Nick Griffin, former head of the British National Party, and David Duke, an ex-grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, issued supportive tweets in response to the video.

Mike Gapes, a former chairman of the Commons foreign affairs committee, told fellow Labour MPs: “I am not prepared to support the racist antisemite. Period. It’s over for me.”

Mr Corbyn was referring to Richard Millett, a Jewish blogger, when he suggested in his speech that British Zionists were different from other Britons. Mr Millett is from a family who arrived in England more than 100
