There are 5 comments on Behind the Scenes at BU: The John R. Silber Symphonic Organ

  1. The last time I heard the organ played, John Silber was still president and the organ provided the background music during the annual BU Holiday Party. It’s too bad that it never seems to played anymore.

  2. Why is this not played more often? As the article states, that space is used for “dinners, galas, the University’s annual holiday party for faculty and staff, award ceremonies, and more” – all of these would be prime places to show off that organ. For the BU holiday party, rather than piping in music, you could have the organ playing. What about a silent movie night?

We have programs of study in organ, we house an organ library in STH, and a very beautiful (and completely different) organ in Marsh Chapel – couldn’t we see more use of this instrument?

    There are a couple recordings on YouTube – https://youtu.be/Y6R5rR5Tqqs & https://youtu.be/mhoTiZssaK0
