Lymphedema is the swelling of a body part, usually an arm or leg, caused by the accumulation of lymph fluid. It interferes with normal movement and is sometimes painful. Lymphedema is a chronic, progressive condition that requires specific management for a lifetime.

Causes of lymphedema include:

  • Surgery
  • Radiation treatment
  • Birth defect
  • Trauma

Comprehensive Lymphedema Therapy (CLT)

DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan (RIM) has assembled one of the largest teams of physical and occupational therapists in southeast Michigan with advanced training in lymphedema management.
