An alliance that helped sweep President Trump to office appears to be strengthening as his administration delivers on its promises to America’s religious right.

According to PRRI, a pollster, 75 per cent of white evangelical Protestants view Mr Trump favourably, a record high and up from 68 per cent in January. The figures suggest that conservative Christians, for decades a key force in US politics, have radically reordered their voting priorities to back a president whose earthy language and alleged marital infidelity might once have disqualified him.
