The North Carolina Military Affairs Commission

The North Carolina Military Affairs Commission (NCMAC) provides advice, counsel, and recommendations to the Governor, the NC General Assembly, and state agencies on the State’s military. NCMAC’s vision is to make North Carolina the most military-friendly state in the United States. The Commission promotes North Carolina’s Active Duty, National Guard, and Reserves in America’s defense strategy and the economic health and vitality of the State. 

NCMAC recommends actions to protect the existing North Carolina military infrastructure, maintain a high quality of life for military members and their families, and promote new military missions and economic opportunities for the State. Military installations provide direct economic benefit to host communities and the State overall. Military and civilian employment – as well as Defense contracts – infuse sizable, stable monies into every aspect of the economy.

North Carolina Department of Commerce, Division of Workforce Solutions 

The Division of Workforce Solutions (DWS), part of the N.C. Department of Commerce, is responsible for administering state and federal workforce programs that help individuals gain skills and find employment, and help businesses find the qualified talent they need to be successful. Services are offered primarily through NCWorks Career Centers, which are operated in collaboration with local workforce development boards, and through NCWorks Online (ncworks.gov). Among the many programs offered by DWS are services to veterans with barriers to employment.
