We could harp on you about the importance of putting on sunscreen and reapplying it throughout the day, but who knows if you’ll actually listen. Julie Nisbet, a 34-year-old mother of two, ran 21 hours from coast-to-coast across England along Hadrian’s Wall. The sunburn on her calves developed small sacs of pus, causing her to screech in pain and seek hospital treatment, according to the Daily Mail. But they only grew larger, taking up a significant portion of her legs. A week later, she’s still in agony. “I was wearing sun cream at the start of the race but hadn’t reapplied,” Nisbet said. “Sweat and water had pretty much got rid of what I had on the backs of my legs.”

If that doesn’t scare you into compulsively reapplying sunscreen when you toss a football around on the beach with your friends, let alone run a marathon, we don’t know what will. (In case you're wondering, you should be reapplying every two hours.) At least Julie has a sense of humor about it, joking that she’ll probably lose four pounds once the pus drains.
