Bibby, J-Will and Bonzi to Play in 3-on-3 Legends League

For basketball fans, summer is a dreaded time of year. With the NBA season taking its annual break, fans have to wait until late fall to be able to get their fix of professional basketball.

However, this summer will bring back familiar faces and help fill in the absence of the NBA. A new three-on-three, half-court basketball league called The BIG3 will start play on its inaugural season as highlighted by David Aldridge on NBA.com.

In addition to a shortened court and three-on-three, the league will have an age-limit rule. To be able to participate, players must be at least 30 years old. There are other rule changes as part of the league, including a “4-Point Circle”. Shots made on or past the circle will count for four points. Players Antoine Walker will love this addition to the game.

Spearheaded by rapper/actor Ice Cube, his business partner Jeff Kwatinetz, and former NBPA executive Roger Mason, The BIG3 has already attracted plenty of NBA alumni to join. Among those ready to lace them up again are former Kings Mike Bibby, Bonzi Wells and Jason Williams.

For teams playing against Bibby and Williams, they will have a formidable task on their hands. Both still play frequently, including last summer when the two former Kings guards teamed up to participate in The Basketball Tournament. They still have the ability to make plays, as fans can see below.

Mason is currently courting different television networks for potential landing spots for the new league. Fans will be able to watch The BIG3 this summer on a network to be named later.
