The Most Important Resources For Job-Hunters [Infographic]

This article is more than 8 years old.

The internet has become the premier resource for today's job hunters. 79 percent of Americans used online resources and information during their most recent search for employment, according to a Pew Research survey. Roughly one-third of American job hunters consider the internet the most important resource available to a person searching for a new job.

Older non-digital techniques are still alive and well with 66 percent of respondents saying they used connections with close friends or family during their most recent search for a job. Only 32 percent of people used employment agencies (both government and private) or referred to advertisements in print publications. According to Pew, the vast majority of Americans are confident in their digital job-seeking skills though a minority would find it difficult to carry out tasks such as compiling a professional resume, filling in online job applications or emailing potential employers.
