The right bag for: Someone who is always on the go and wants a bag small enough to run with

Tracksmith’s Olmsted bag got its name from Frederick Law Olmsted, who designed the Boston Emerald Necklace—six interconnected parks throughout the city that runners frequent. The celebrated running history behind this bag and its ability to carry the essentials to any race or workout are what make the Olmsted indispensable.

Petite and Practical

The bag has a collegiate look to it, and it’s not super big, which is a definite plus—you wouldn’t want to be running with something bulky slamming against your back with each step. And while it’s a great option to take with you on the run, it’s also great for traveling to and from work, to the gym, to races, or on vacation.

A small interior compartment to carry GU or credit cards.

While it’s not the largest on the market, it’s great for carrying a few essential things with you on a run—like a water bottle, keys, credit cards, and (if necessary) a change of clothes. It even has a chest strap to make sure it doesn’t move. You can also take it to the gym for a strength-training session—it can hold your shoes and sweaty post-workout clothes without making your bag smell, since there’s plenty of mesh ventilation in the back. And it’s portable and small, so it stores easily in any size locker.

Compartments for Organizing

This bag has one big, main compartment, one medium-sized compartment, and one really tiny compartment. These smaller compartments are good if you have a lot of random stuff you carry with you that you want to be able to find easily, like deodorant, sunscreen, or jewelry, while working out at the gym. You can fit extra clothes or your laptop in the biggest compartment if you are carrying it to and from work. However, the bag is really only big enough to carry something like shorts and a T-shirt. Any heavier clothes probably wouldn’t fit well, especially if you’re using it to carry a ton of other things.

Resistant and Sturdy

The bag fits really well on your back. It’s not bulky, and it stays close to you. It doesn’t hang down or become loose. Our tester used the bag throughout the week, and it didn’t get noticeably dirty. Leather on the bottom prevents rips or tears from happening during use, so it’s very durable.
