This week in The Rock News—hey, we have a Google Alert—the wrestler-turned-superstar actor indirectly helped a fan shed 115 pounds.
At 280 pounds, 48-year-old Nina Gibson was morbidly obese. She feared she was veering down the same path as her mom, whose unhealthy eating habits likely contributed to her early death at age 49, Gibson told TODAY.

So she vowed to make a change—and she looked to the 6’5”, 245-pound beast in her Twitter feed for some inspiration.

“When I was in the gym it was really hard for me to do the strength training,” Gibson told TODAY. “The Rock would definitely motivate me.”

Gibson said she admired Johnson’s fitness—who doesn’t?—but more importantly, his kindness and encouragement on social media.

Now Gibson is down to 165 pounds, and Johnson recently caught wind of her awesome transformation.

“I’m so happy for you,” Johnson told Gibson in a video message posted by TODAY. “I heard in some way that I helped motivate that, so thank you. Keep up the great work!”
