This season’s Asics line includes updates to the Gel-Kayano and Gel-Nimbus models. Both of the shoes are discounted right now through August 6 for Nordstrom’s Anniversary sale. They’re both popular and reliable shoes in the Asics line and have been around for the past two decades.
Though we haven’t reviewed either of the two new shoes yet, the 23rd version of the Gel-Kayano made it into our fall 2016 shoe guide and the Gel-Nimbus 18 was featured in spring 2016’s guide.
The newer versions offer a few upgrades in running technology, and they are selling quickly at Nordstrom—some colors have already run out. So, act fast to get the $40 discount.
Gel-Nimbus 19
The Asics Gel-Nimbus running shoe was the original “cloud” runner. With Asics’ FlyteFoam midsole and gel in the forefoot/heel, Asics aims to deliver a firmer, responsive ride in the 19th version. Gel-Kayano 24
Like its predecessor, the Gel-Kayano 24 uses reinforced fibers in the FlyteFoam technology for a slightly firm, but comfortable run. The difference comes in the sizing and fit of the shoe. With a responsive, stretchy upper, heel-clutching technology, and enhanced midfoot structural integrity, the shoe is meant to provide an adaptive fit.
